We offer a wide-variety of steps for our camper vans for a reason – it’s a big step, especially from the rear. The newer Mercedes Sprinter VS30 vans in particular have an entry height that is great for loading cargo, and a little too high to just easily step in, no matter how tall you are. Side steps are a common modification, and rear steps can be just as important. Depending on your van set-up, you may be entering and exiting through the back doors as well, and this full width Rear Tug Step from Van Compass offers a secure step-up access to your van’s cargo area.
At 67” wide, this step spans the full width at the rear of your Sprinter van and offers you a 5” wide platform for easy, secure access to your rear door. And with all of this, the step has a high clearance, so it does not block the function of your factory receiver or impede your adventure van’s ground clearance or departure angle. The tie in plates for the main chassis are fabricated from 3/8” high strength steel, so this step is as durable and robust as your adventure Sprinter van.
As an added thoughtful feature for adventure van off-roading enthusiasts, these tie in plates are also manufactured with anchor points for ¾” D-ring shackles, and the step can be ordered with D-ring shackles rated for 3.5 tons to provide self-recover pull-points. This step is compatible with all rear bumper sensors, and if you intend to configure your van’s interior design to call for regular, or even non-regular rear entry, this is a practical and sturdy addition to your build.
