Go Further, Stay Longer

What Makes an Overland Rig Different

An overland rig isn't just a truck with a lift kit. It's a self-sufficient vehicle engineered to take you further from pavement and keep you comfortable when you get there. Sleeping setup, cooking, water storage, auxiliary power, lighting — all integrated into a package that works together.

At OZK Customs, we build overland rigs on the platforms people actually use — Tacomas, 4Runners, Tundras, F-150s, Rangers, Broncos, Silverados, Colorados, Gladiators, and Ram trucks. Every build starts with how you use your vehicle.

We know overlanding because we've done it — camping out of rigs, crawling up fire roads, cooking under the stars. Being based in the Ozarks means we're surrounded by some of the best backcountry east of the Rockies.

Built Right, Built to Last

Why Professional Overland Builds Matter

Weight-Matched Systems

Suspension, racks, and armor are all weight-bearing components. We match every component to your actual loaded weight for proper ride quality and safety.

Electrical Integration

Auxiliary batteries, solar, and lighting all need to be properly fused, wired, and isolated from your vehicle's starting system. One wrong connection can leave you stranded.

Armor That Fits

Every piece of armor we install is spec'd for your exact vehicle — model year, cab configuration, and bed length. No gaps in protection, no mounting stress points.

Trail-Tested Components

Every product we install comes from our Fixed Pricing Menu of components we've used, tested, and trusted across hundreds of builds.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

An overland rig is a truck or SUV set up to be self-sufficient for days or weeks at a time. Not just capable off-road, but actually livable — sleeping setup, cooking, water, power. The goal is to go further and stay longer without needing to resupply constantly.

Toyotas are our most common — Tacomas, 4Runners, Tundras, and the occasional Land Cruiser. We also work on Ford (F-150, Ranger, Bronco), Chevy (Silverado, Colorado), Jeep Gladiator, and Ram trucks. If you already have a truck, bring it in.

It varies by owner, but a typical complete setup includes lift kit and improved suspension, armor (bumpers, rock sliders, skid plates), rack system, rooftop tent or shell, auxiliary power (lithium batteries, solar, inverter), lighting, water storage, and a kitchen setup. We figure out what you actually need and build around that.

All the time. iKamper, Roofnest, 23Zero — we've installed most major brands. We make sure the rack is rated for the weight, everything's mounted properly, and the ladder placement makes sense for your setup.

Icon, Fox, King, Bilstein, Old Man Emu, Dobinsons — the brands that have proven themselves in real-world use. Which one depends on your truck and how you drive it. We match the suspension to your actual use case and the weight of whatever you're hauling.

Basic work — suspension, bumpers, rack, lights — usually 1–2 weeks. Full builds with electrical, kitchen, water, and interior organization — figure 4–8 weeks depending on complexity.

Fayetteville, Arkansas — 6159 E Huntsville Rd. Right in the Ozarks. After we finish your rig, you can test it on real trails before you leave town. The XNA airport is 20 minutes out if you're flying in.

We've actually used this gear. Slept in trucks, cooked out of tailgates, run trails that test rigs. Every component we install comes from our Fixed Pricing Menu of proven products, and every installation follows documented procedures for your specific platform.
