Hitch and cargo noise deserve special attention. Any play at the receiver will telegraph into the body. Pair a quality tightener with a pin that removes side clearance. Use rubber isolators on cargo basket bolt points and ensure spare carriers use preloaded pivot hardware. If a swing out becomes noisy, inspect the pivot bushing for wear and reset bearing preload per the manufacturer’s guidance.

Not every noise is a rattle. A thump over sharp edges can signal a worn sway bar link or shock mount. A chirp that tracks with wheel speed could be brake hardware. Before adding materials, confirm baseline health of suspension, body mounts, and door hardware. Fixing the mechanical issue first often erases the sound without further treatment.
